1.2 million people in Austria will receive the 500-euro climate bonus in vouchers.

All citizens of whom no account data is stored in FinanzOnline or who do not have their account will receive €500 for adults and €250 for children up to the age of 18 as Sodexo vouchers made of recycled paper and in their green design, delivered climate-friendly and CO2-neutral by Austrian Post.

“The climate bonus is a centerpiece of the eco-social tax reform. It ensures that climate-friendly behavior pays off and relieves the burden on people in our country. With the climate bonus, we all receive a credit. With the anti-taxation bonus, the relief now comes twice as fast as originally planned: It will already be paid out to all people in Austria,” explains Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler.

No prior registration is required to receive the climate bonus as a Sodexo voucher. The voucher will be sent automatically to all people in Austria without an account or account data stored in FinanzOnline.

The Sodexo vouchers for the climate bonus are delivered by Austrian Post in a CO2-neutral manner as a personally addressed RSa letter to entitled persons. For security reasons, an official photo ID (passport, ID card or driver’s license) must be presented to receive the letter for home delivery and pick-up at the post office. Users of the free Post app are informed in advance about the delivery of the RSa letter.

So when will the Sodexo vouchers arrive at home? The first personally addressed RSa letters with the Sodexo vouchers will arrive as early as September 7. The Sodexo vouchers come in denominations of 50 euros each and can be redeemed immediately at thousands of acceptance partners from all sectors throughout Austria. Their validity ends on December 31, 2023.

The voucher for the climate bonus, made of recycled paper, was specially designed. On the left side, it features a dandelion on a green background and the white Sodexo logo. The right side features a graphic of an alpine meadow and a mountain landscape.

The counterfeit-proof Sodexo vouchers are numbered and bear a barcode, which is issued once. Transport, storage, and production are additionally secured and monitored by personnel and technology.
